Technorati announced that the Blogosphere has hit 50 Million blogs–it is now 100 times bigger than 3 years ago.

For those of you who want to zoom in on the doubling period, let me sum it up: Blogosphere is doubling every 6 months!

Meanwhile, every two seconds someone, somehwere is adding a new blog about something.

Aside from personal musing, cut and pasting from other sites and sharing our own reflections, blogs have become important–and often trusted– source of information.

The blogs are in red, MSM in blue. What becomes more interesting to me, however, is that as you continue down the long tail of media sites, the number of blogs starts to grow – to 11 of the top 90 sites, or 12.2% of the total, especially given the budget differentials, as shown below:

Although English represents the largest medium language in the Blogosphere, Japanese is a close number two and Chinese is coming on strong.

And a fun fact: In less time than it took you to read this sentance, 20 new posts were added to the blogosphere (18.6 posts per second adding up to an astounding 1.6 million posts per day….and oh so few of them by Jeff, Jonathon and myself….but we are trying.
The only two questions for you are:
1) When will you begin blogging?
2) And what woudl you blog about?

[...] If Google had a hand to play in the unblocking of blogger it’s pretty obvious why they would want that site and tool unblocked first. Chinese bloggers are part of the fastest growing demographics in the blogosphere. According to the latest technorati update now making up 14% of all blogs. Can someone say $$$$$?(Shaun McElroy posting a great review of the Technorati update on our U Tech Tips site) [...]
