I am starting a new series of columns today. Once a week or so, I will post about my favourite mac thing. Why? Well I like macs. The shiny white, the curved keys, the metal finish, the flash graphics just to start a program, the fact that I can take a grade 1 student and teach him to make a movie. I like that the mac makes me look like a production genius–photo books, websites, DVDS and more. I can make, wait strike that, create things with ease.
The focus of my favourite mac things will be either
- ways of doing things
- or software that rocks
- or perhaps anything else that inspires me.
Now why I have chosen now to share my mac appreciation? Over the last week, returning teachers and students have come up to me with that gleam in their eye, the one that says that I have a such a cool thing he he he, and break the news. Teachers who could have gotten a free dell chose to go out and buy a mac. Now why in the world would teacher turn down perfectly good dells? What is it about these chines that have people digging into their pockets?
Stay tuned.

I plan on staying tuned. I am a mac person trapped in a windows district. The good news is that I am now in a position to make some changes. Any and all arguments to help me make some changes are appreciated. Thanks Jeff.

Looking forward to these posts. I am a Mac user in a windows district but we have brought in about 15 Macs to the district for teachers to use in creative iLife based projects. Many of the teachers who borrow these machines do not want to give them back, and quite a few have gone out and bought Macs for themselves. Macs and Mac programs seem to inspire creativity.
