That is a powerful video. I teach in a 19th century building at an independent school in the UK (think Harry Potter) and I often remark on how our pupils’ educational needs and expectations are no longer served by the system we have in place.
However I think we should get passed the stage in which we have identified the problem (there’s a quote in the video from 1967!) and move on to suggesting alternative new systems that are pedagogically sound, relevant to today’s students and, most importantly, implementable: I’m afraid schools like mine don’t do revolution, as there are massive inertial forces at play which strive to keep things as they are.
