Jeff and I spent episode 18 of the Shifting Our Schools podcast talking about examples of shifted instructional practices in our respective schools. We aim in the podcast to cover big topics that deal with how to change schools while also giving specific best practices of what Learning 2.0 looks like in the classroom.

While the Web is filled with lesson collections, it is often difficult to find ones that really are discovery learning expeditions while being collaborative and information rich leading to real student understanding. Just think of the WebQuest collections out there that just don’t quite get students to construct their own understanding, apply it to new situations and share it in authentic ways in their projects. They often simply have the students sharing factual information back as their WebQuest really is an online information scavenger hunt.
I was very happy this past week to run across other examples of shifted lessons posted by Kim Cofino, Amanda DeCardy (here in Utechtips), and Kevin Honeycutt. And as noted in the SOS podcast, I recently spent some time with a group of Apple Distinguised Educators who contributed to the collections of shifted lessons and unit plans that Apple hosts on one of their sites.
Here are links to those lessons:

What examples of really shifted lessons can you share?
