Trapped… behind the “gre*t fir*wall” of Ch*na!

There comes a time in every bloggers life when you get into the rhythm, the flow… a style develops, kinks are worked out in the system, scribefire is discovered, Wordpress becomes so easy to navigate and manipulate to your every desire and wish. That was where I was getting with my own blog, which I’ve been posting to daily for months now targeting my posts to the topics we’re covering in AP and IB Economics here at Shanghai American School.

Two nights ago, in the middle of editing a post, I went to view my changes and was surprised when I got a message saying the page could not load. Two hours later, I still could not view my blog, and the next day at school a half dozen students complained that they were unable to read and comment on the blog the night before. That’s when it dawned on me: I’d been blocked in China! Sure enough, a Skype call home confirmed that my parents could still read it, a Skype chat with a friend in Thailand confirmed that it was accessible there, but no one, not a single student or friend in China could get my blog to load! My worst blogging nightmare had come true! Month of posts (well over 100) relating to every topic from both the IB and AP Econ syllabuses were hidden behind the great firewall of China!chachashenzheninternetpoliceChina.jpg

Sure, I could view it through a proxy server, but I couldn’t log on to add posts, and how does that help the 100 Econ students who have been reading it all year? There’s nothing I can do. I’m at the mercy of the Net Police, those adorable, happy-go-lucky cartoons, whoever they are, who have deemed my blog, for whatever reason, inappropriate for the masses of the Chinese mainland. At least for those who are too dumb to know that any blog, blocked or not by the government, can be viewed using anonymouse.org or proxify.com! HA, there, gotcha, whadayagonna do to me now, you cute little Net Cop?
If you can view my blog, you are not in China. If you are in China, please contact me and let me know you got through! http:welkerswikinomics.com/blog

I am in China and I can view your welkerswikinomics.com/blog site just fine. I would like to know how you created it.
I can not view my blogs, unless I go through anonymouse.org or proxify.com as you suggested.
